Make and Receive Calls in Microsoft Teams

This article explains how to make and receive audio and video calls in Microsoft Teams.

Start a Call in Chat

You can make one-on-one or group calls with anyone in your organization directly from a chat without having to host a team meeting. These calls are private and won't appear in any team conversation.

  1. While chatting with someone one-to-one or within a group chat, click  video call to start a video call or  audio call to start an audio call.
  2. To add someone new to a group call, click Show Participants, then type in their name or phone number in the search box.

Answer a Call

With the desktop application:

  • Click  Accept With Audio to answer with audio only.
  • Click   Accept With Video to accept the call and enable video.
  • Click  Decline Call to decline the call.

With the mobile application:

  • If you are in the mobile application, you can tap  answer to start talking.
  • If you are not in the Teams application, you can answer it as you would with a native phone call.
