This week’s snow flurries have blown in an extra Weekly Canvas Tip! Today, let's explore a simple yet effective way to keep your course communications at the center of your course design – pinning recent unread announcements to the top of the course home page. This feature keeps students informed and engaged as the announcements have increased visibility. Here’s how to set this up...

Step-by-Step Guide to Display Recent Announcements on Home Page:

  1. Navigate to the course in which you want to display recent announcements.

  1. Go to yourSettings in the left-hand navigation. (It should be towards the bottom of the list.)

  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings page. Click “More Options.”

  1. Check the second checkbox down the list, which readsShow recent announcements on Course home page

  1. Now choose the number of announcements to show from the drop-down box below. The announcements will be displayed underneath one another on the course homepage.

  1. Click the "Save" button to apply these changes.

By showcasing recent announcements on your course home page, you create a dynamic and informative first point of contact for your students. This small change can significantly improve the flow of information and keep your students more engaged and informed throughout the semester.

Happy Teaching!
