How to Submit HQ Files to Canvas Assignments Using OneDrive

This article is about uploading a full-quality file as a submission to a Canvas assignment using the OneDrive integration with Canvas.

When you submit a file as an assignment, Canvas typically applies file compression to optimize file size and reduce the load on the learning management system. To upload a full-quality file with no compression, you should use the OneDrive integration with Canvas.

Instructions for Students

  1. Navigate to the assignment you are submitting and start a submission.
  2. Windows: Click 'More Options,' then select "Microsoft OneDrive." Mac: Select "Microsoft OneDrive"
  3. Use your SSO to log into Microsoft and open OneDrive in Canvas if needed.
  4. When OneDrive opens, you can upload a file by clicking the "Upload" button in the upper right corner of the screen.
  5. Click the circle to the left of your intended file to select it. Then, click "Save" in the bottom right corner of the window.
  6. After you have selected that file as the submission, click the blue "Submit" button in the lower right corner of the screen to submit the assignment.

Instructions for Professors

There are no special instructions to allow students to submit using OneDrive. Any assignment that allows "File Uploads" as a submission type will allow submission through OneDrive.
