Requesting and Accessing a Temporary Backup Folder

A staff or faculty member can request a temporary backup folder 200 GB in capacity. IT can provide temporary storage space for technology renewal data backup or for situations where data must be backed up prior to a hard drive replacement/computer re-image.

How to Access the Temporary Backup Folder

Microsoft Windows

  1. Click Start.
  2. In the Search textbox, enter \\neo\backup
  3. You will see a folder with your name and an expiration date. Move any files you want to preserve to this folder.
  4. Once you are using your new computer or machine, reconnect to the folder. Move the files from the backup folder to the hard drive of your new computer.

Note: An IT staff member will contact you before deleting any data from your backup folder.

Apple macOS

  1. Choose Go > Connect to Server.
  2. Enter smb://neo in the Server Address textbox.
  3. If prompted, enter your Netpass username and password.
  4. Double-click on the Backup volume in the "Select the Volumes" list. You will see a folder with your name and an expiration date. Move any files you want to preserve to this folder.
  5. Once you are using your new computer or machine, reconnect to the folder. Move the files from the backup folder to the hard drive of your new computer.

Note: An IT staff member will contact you before deleting any data from your backup folder.
