New students: You should be enrolled in SSPR and able to use it to set your initial password (or later to reset a forgotten password) as long as you provided a personal (not ithaca.edu) email address and cell phone number in the IC Connect portal.
New employees: You should be enrolled in SSPR and able to use it to set your initial password (or later to reset a forgotten password) as long as you provided a personal (not ithaca.edu) email address and cell phone number on your job acceptance form.
Set your initial IC password with SSPR
To create your password, you will need:
- Your new Ithaca College email address
- Cell phone number you provided to the college
- Personal email address you provided to the college
To set your initial IC password with SSPR:
- Go to: https://aka.ms/sspr
- Enter your Ithaca College email address and complete a CAPTCHA. Click Next.
- Select “I forgot my password” and click Next.
- You will be prompted to enter codes using the two verification methods (cell phone number and non-IC email address) that you provided to Ithaca College in the IC Connect portal (students) or job acceptance form (employees).
- Follow the instructions to create a new password that conforms to the Azure password policy found here: Password policies and account restrictions in Azure Active Directory
Password Tips:
- Be sure to use a password that is unique to this account and that you’ve never used anywhere else.
- Use at least 8 characters and not more than 128.
- Use at least three of the four different character types:
- Lowercase letters
- Uppercase letters
- Numbers 0-9
- Symbols @ # $ % ^ & * - ! + = [ ] { } | \ : ' , . ? / ` ~ " ( ) ; < > or blank space
- If you get an error that the password doesn’t comply, it may be that your password contained your name or username, or certain prohibited words. Try a different password.

Access your Ithaca College email & enroll in Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
To access your IC email account:
- Set your initial password using the steps above
- Go to https://apps.ithaca.edu and click Outlook on the Web
- Log in using your IC email address and the password you set in SSPR
- When you first log in, you will be prompted to enroll in Duo multi-factor authentication. Multiple options are available, but we strongly recommend using the Duo Mobile app for security and ease of use. Additional information about Duo configuration is available here: http://ithaca.edu/duo
