Canvas and Leganto Reading List

What Is Leganto?

Leganto is an online application that supports the creation and management of course resource lists. Instructors can build, maintain, and share resource lists that include all material types, library staff can provide resources efficiently, and students can access all course materials in one place and from any device. Leganto integrates with the IC library's system, Canvas, mobile apps, and citation tools.

Is Leganto Available for Everyone to Use?

The TLT Team has been rolling out the Leganto tool with a small user group of faculty that had expressed an interest in piloting the new tool, but Leganto is also available for all faculty to add to their Canvas course sites. The user group was created to provide additional support from IT and Library staff during the beginning period of the new tool. If you are interested in learning more about Leganto or joining the user group, please email jwilliamson1@ithaca.edu.

What Types of Resources Can I Add to My Reading List?

With Ex Libris Leganto, you can assemble materials of all types — physical books, online or digitized book chapters, scholarly articles, videos, newspaper articles, websites, and any other type of material — to create a structured, comprehensive resource list. You can build a resource list by yourself or collaborate with others, such as colleagues or librarians.

Can Students Add Items to Reading Lists?

Only users designated as "collaborators" are able to add, edit, and delete reading lists. Students are able to view, download, and add comments to discussions about resources. If you have a student Teaching Assistant that you would like to grant "collaborator" permissions, please contact TLT or the Library to change these permissions.

Getting Started Using Leganto
