Important First Steps

When you have just created your Leganto Reading List, you must create at least one section before you can add any items to your list. If you click the blue "+" icon on your new reading list and nothing happens, make sure that you have created a "section" before trying to add items.

What Are The Different Ways That I Can Add Items To My Reading List?

  1. Cite it! Widget
  2. Simple or Advanced Search through Library/eReserves/Databases
  3. Manual entry of resource citations, which may include a digital file attachment

Using the Cite It Widget to Add Items

Whenever you find a resource that you want to save to your Leganto Reading List, simply click on the "Cite it!" button that you have added to your bookmarks bar of your browser. A window will pop up, mostly auto-filled, with the citation information about the resource. Double check that everything is correct and click ADD & CLOSE to add the resource to your Reading List without even clicking back to the tab.

Important: You must be currently logged in to Leganto in order for the Cite it! widget to work. If the window doesn't pop up, make sure you are signed in and you have your pop ups allowed.

Using Simple or Advanced Search to Add Items

To add resources directly from your reading list page, click on the blue "+" button to add items. A sidebar will pop up from the right side of the screen. The default is the simple search where you will only be able to search by title, author or keyword. In order to conduct a more specific search, click on Advanced Search where you will be able to search for a specific ISBN or ISSN.

When you find a resource that you want to add to your reading list, simply drag and drop the resource into whichever section you desire.

Using Manual Entry to Add Items

Another way of adding resources to your reading list is by manually entering information about the resource. Let's say you have a single page from a book that you would like to share with your students. You would enter the citation information about the book and even be able to upload a picture or scan of the specific page that you want your students to read.

Any resource that would normally be accessible for students through database searches and physical copies in libraries can now be directly downloadable for students from a single source when using the Leganto Reading List.
