Change Active Hours for Windows 10

Active Hours is a setting that allows Windows to know when you're typically at your PC. That information is used to schedule updates and restarts when you’re not using the PC. By default, IT@IC has set active hours to be 7AM to 7PM. If you prefer to have Active Hours set to a different time, here are two ways to change active hours in Windows 10.

Setting your own active hours

  1. Click the Start  button 

  2. Select Settings Update & Security  > Windows Update 

  3. Select Change active hours.

  4. Next to your current active hours, select Change. Then choose the start time and end time for active hours.

 

To have Windows automatically adjust active hours based on your device’s activity:

 This setting is only available on Windows 10 version 1903 and later

  1. Click the Start  button 

  2. Select Settings Update & Security  > Windows Update 

  3. Select Change active hours.

  4. Turn on Automatically adjust active hours for this device based on activity.
