Apporto Virtual Desktop

Ithaca College offers the use of virtual Windows desktops on a first come first serve basis. The following software is installed on these virtual machines:

  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Adobe Audition 2019
  • Adobe Dreamweaver 2019
  • Adobe Illustrator 2019
  • Adobe InDesign 2019 
  • Adobe Photoshop 2019
  • Adobe Premier Pro 2019
  • Apporto Clound Mounter - mounts One Drive, Box Drive, Dropbox Drive, Google Drive like they are local resources
  • ArcMap 10.8
  • GMetrix Skills Management
  • IBM SPSS Statistics 26
  • JASP
  • LT​​​​​​​spice XVII
  • Microsoft Access 2016
  • Microsoft Excel 2016

  1. Access the virtual lab at 
  2. Log in to Apporto with your Netpass username and password. The first time you log in, you will be presented with a guide to using the virtual machine.
Alert: Virtual computers will shut down with 15 minutes of inactivity, and any unsaved work will be lost.


At the top of Apporto in the browser are seven buttons:

 Full-Screen Mode: Clicking the full-screen button enlarges the virtual machine to the full-width and full-height of the display

 Upload Files: Clicking the Upload Files button allows you to upload files to the virtual machine

 Download Files: Clicking the Download Files button allows you to download files from the virtual machine

 Share Screen: Clicking the Share Screen button allows you to share your screen in View Only, View & Draw, or Full Control modes

  • View Only mode allows you to share your screen to someone else
  • View & Draw mode allows you to share your screen to someone else and allows them to draw on your virtual desktop
  • Full Control mode allows you to give full control of your virtual desktop to someone else

Activity Log: Clicking the Activity Log button allows you to view your activity log for the virtual machine

Save & Restore Snapshots: Clicking the Save and Restore Snapshots button lets you save up to two snapshots for an active session so you can "roll back" your work to a previous state in the event you need to undo your work.

Audio: Clicking the Audio button allows you to turn on and off audio from the virtual machine
