When you click on the Top Hat link from your Canvas course site, the Top Hat website will display two options.
Make sure you click on "Sign Up" under Create Account.
Enter your email address, create a password, agree with the terms and conditions, and then click Create 7 Day Trial Account INSTEAD of Next.
You will now have access to your professor's Top Hat course and will be able to respond to various types of content (questions, discussions, attendance, etc.) posed by your professor. Each time you log in to Top Hat you will be reminded that you have to complete the registration process. You will also receive an email confirming your partial account registration and advising you that you must complete the registration process in the next 7 days.
