How To: Host a Zoom Meeting

Hosting with Sakai

Zoom has a tool to create a zoom meeting from within Sakai for direct access for classes or projects. You can only create a meeting in a Sakai site if you are either the instructor or manager of a class or project site.

 If this is your first time using Zoom, log in to  Zoom with your Netpass credentials.

If you're the instructor (course site) or a manage user (project site):

  1. To add the tool, click Site Info.
  2. Click Manage Tools on the menu bar.
  3. Scroll to and click Plugin Tools.
  4. Check Zoom Cloud Meeting checkbox to add the Zoom tool.
  5. Click Continue until you see the confirmation page that the tool has been added.
  6. You can now go back to Zoom to join the meeting. When clicked, Zoom with launch the desktop application or prompt you to download it.

Hosting with Microsoft Windows or Apple macOS

  1. Download and open Zoom.
  2. Click on Sign In with SSO
  3. Type in ithaca as the company domain and click "Continue"
  4. Type in your Netpass username and password in the popup window.
  5. Click Schedule or Host a Meeting.
  6. You will have the ability to start an instant meeting with or without video. You can also schedule a meeting for the future.

Hosting with Apple iOS or Google Android

  1. Download Zoom from the App Store or Play Store and open Zoom.
  2. Click on Sign In with SSO
  3. Type in ithaca as the company domain and click "Continue"
  4. Type in your Netpass username and password in the popup window.
  5. Click Schedule or Host a Meeting.
  6. You will have the ability to start an instant meeting with or without video. You can also schedule a meeting for the future.

Hosting with a Web Browser

This still requires that the software be installed but is another way to access the system. 

  1. Visit the  Ithaca Zoom website.
  2. Click Host a Meeting.
  3. Click With Video On or With Video Off to start the meeting with or without video. You can later choose to turn your video on or off at any time.
  4. Log in to Zoom with your Netpass username and password.
  5. Zoom with launch the desktop application or prompt you to download it.
