Privileges.app is an application that makes it very simple to temporarily get administrator privileges (also known as Admin Rights) on your Mac. It can be found in Jamf Self Service, and includes the additional feature of changing accounts back to a Standard user after a set period.
Frequently Asked Questions about Privileges.app and Administrator Privileges
If Privileges.app is already installed.
- From the dock, click the green Privileges icon. (Green square with a white lock).
- If you do not see the Privileges dock icon, go to Applications in Finder or Launchpad.
- Run Privileges.app to gain admin rights. Privileges.app will return your account to a Standard user after a set period.
If Privileges.app is not installed
- From Applications or the Launch Pad, open Jamf Self Service.
- In Self Service Featured or Utility categories, find the green Privileges icon and click Install to install Privileges.app.
- From Applications or the Launch Pad, run Privileges.app and click Request Privileges to gain admin rights. Privileges.app will return your account to a Standard user after a set period.
